David Guggenheim, PsyD

Dr. Guggenheim earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Connecticut and his M.A. and Psy.D. in clinical psychology from the American School of Professional Psychology in Washington, DC. Dr. Guggenheim’s graduate studies focused primarily on work with underserved children and families and he has conducted clinical research in family therapy with same-sex couple headed households. Dr. Guggenheim has built his career at the Community Health Center Inc., beginning with the company as a post-doctoral psychology resident. After obtaining licensure as a clinical psychologist, Dr. Guggenheim oversaw the rapid expansion of behavioral health services at CHC’s Fairfield County sites. As part of his agency's mission, Dr. Guggenheim is committed to training the next generation of healthcare providers and has worked with a team of professionals to develop a multi-site post-doctoral residency program in primary care. He is trained as a coach in Dartmouth Clinical Microsystems approach to performance improvement and works closely with Weitzman Institute in Project ECHO for patients experiencing chronic pain, patients prescribed buprenorphine and child and adolescent clinical care improvement projects. Dr. Guggenheim is a member of the American Psychological Association, including APA’s Division 38 for Health Psychology and the Collaborative Family Healthcare Association. In addition to his role at CHC, Dr. Guggenheim serves as Associate Faculty at Post University teaching courses in addictions counseling and has recently earned clinical faculty appointment at Quinnipiac University’s School of Medicine where he will be mentoring students conducting behavioral health primary care research.
